by IHCA

The Notice of Race has been released and entries are now open for the 2017 Combined Asia Pacific Hansa Class Championships.

The regatta will be held at Royal Geelong Yacht Club in Victoria from April 14th to 17th 2017 and the event incorporates the Victorian and Australian Class Championships.

Invited classes are the Hansa 2.3, Hansa 303 single and two-person divisions, Liberty and SKUD18.

Australian Hansa Class Association President Russell Phillips said “This is a very exciting time for the Hansa Class Association, with the Hansa 303 recently being named as one of the three Para World Sailing classes. Our Asia Pacific Championships will be the first major Hansa Class regatta since that announcement, and we are looking forward to welcoming competitors from around Australia and overseas to Royal Geelong Yacht Club for the event.”

The Hansa Class Association is an open and inclusive association that encourages people of all ages and abilities to compete with and against each other.

Royal Geelong Yacht Club has a proud tradition of hosting major championships including the Wooden Boat Festival and Australia’s oldest sporting event, the Festival of Sails.

Online entry is now available via this link to the Australian Hansa Class Association website. The Notice of Race is available to view and download at the bottom of the page. You can view the current list of entrants on the AHCA page. (www.ahca.yachting.org.au)

A limited number of charter boats will be available. Boats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, with Australian sailors encouraged to arrange their own boats so that boats can be available for overseas competitors unable to ship their own.

A welcome BBQ will be held on the Friday night and a regatta dinner on the Saturday night which are both free for competitors. Friends and family are welcome to pay to attend these meals also.

Geelong is Victoria’s second largest city and is about a 90-minute drive from Melbourne. A list of accommodation options will be available shortly on the AHCA website, as well as information on getting to and around Geelong.
