Strong easterly winds dominated the weekend at Clyde Muirshiel Park at Lochwinnoch. Saturday was used as an opportunity for some shore based training on rules awareness before the sailors took to the racecourse on Sunday.
Nine boats took part with a mix of single and double crews. Four races of 3 laps of the course took place in pretty windy conditions, 18-26 knots. Despite this the Hansa 303 dinghies were very evenly matched and stood up well to the conditions. Very close racing took place between both fleets with only a few boat lengths separating all the boats in all the races. It was a fantastic days racing in challenging conditions.
It was great to see the guys up from South West Sailability taking part in race 2 of the Hansa Class traveller series. We had a wide range of age and disabilities so seeing the racing so close was testimony to the hard work that all the sailors have put in over the past months. It’s safe to say many of those who took part will be looking forward to the next opportunity to race.
